Build a still image for a Full HD frame

The 1920×1080 canvas has a 16:9 ratio commonly used for presentation backgrounds and video frames. A portrait photo will not naturally fill this wide rectangle. Fit preserves the full photograph with side padding, while Fill crops its top and bottom to cover the frame.

Get a better result

For a slide background, leave space around headings and keep contrast behind text. Upscaling a small image to Full HD does not restore detail. If a screenshot includes fine interface text, inspect it at full resolution after export.

A quick workflow

  1. Load an image and retain the 1920×1080 canvas.
  2. Choose Fit to keep all edges or Fill to select a wide crop.
  3. Process, check the composition and download the still image.

When this tool helps

Prepare slide backdrops, still video artwork or a desktop wallpaper. This changes a raster image; it does not resize a video, set a frame rate or create an animation.

A FEW GOOD ANSWERS

Before you hit download.

Simple tools. Clear expectations.

Is this a video converter?

No. It produces a still image with a Full HD pixel canvas. Add the downloaded file to your video editor if needed.

Will a 4:3 picture be distorted?

Not in Fit or Fill. Both preserve proportions. Stretch is available only as an explicit choice and can change shapes.

Should I upscale a tiny thumbnail?

Usually a larger source gives a better result. More output pixels alone do not provide more original detail.
