A familiar format for a downloaded WebP
A product image saved from a website may arrive as WebP even when your presentation or upload form expects JPG. Decode the WebP and export a real JPEG rather than renaming the extension. The first image supplies the starting dimensions, so conversion alone does not force a square crop.
Get a better result
JPG cannot store transparency. The default white background fills transparent pixels; choose another color if your destination has a different backdrop. Look closely at soft edges and drop shadows. If preserving transparent space matters more than compatibility, use WebP to PNG.
A quick workflow
- Choose a still WebP file and inspect its original dimensions.
- Leave the background white or pick a solid color; set the JPG quality.
- Process, compare edge detail and byte size, then download the JPG.
