Turn a modern web image into a compatible JPG

AVIF can deliver compact web imagery, but some editing programs and upload forms cannot read it. This converter uses your browser’s actual AVIF decoder and exports JPG from the decoded pixels. A browser without support receives a clear error rather than a renamed or mislabeled file.

Get a better result

AVIF may contain transparency, wide-gamut color or HDR. JPG output is flattened against the selected background and should be checked for visible color changes. The default is white. Keep the AVIF original if you need its original dynamic range or metadata later.

A quick workflow

  1. Open a still AVIF in a browser that supports AVIF decoding.
  2. Check the preview and choose the JPG background, quality and dimensions.
  3. Process, download and verify the file in the program that rejected AVIF.

When this tool helps

Useful for a saved web illustration, product image or photograph that needs to enter a JPG-only workflow. This tool handles supported still images, not AVIF animation or video.

A FEW GOOD ANSWERS

Before you hit download.

Simple tools. Clear expectations.

Is a remote AVIF conversion API used?

No. The browser decoder and Canvas export both run on your device. No AVIF library or image is sent to a remote processor.

What if my browser cannot decode the file?

Try a current browser with AVIF support. Corrupt files or unsupported AVIF variants produce an error; changing the extension will not repair them.

Are animated AVIF files supported?

No. AVIF sequence containers are rejected. Export a deliberate still using a suitable animation tool first.
