Meet a JPEG-only form’s 100KB budget

Some forms require both the JPG format and a file no larger than 100KB. This page starts with JPEG output and a 100,000-byte budget. It performs an iterative quality search rather than assigning one percentage and assuming that every photograph will fit.

Get a better result

A JPG has already been compressed, so repeated exports from previous results can accumulate artifacts. Return to the original for each attempt. If a large photo cannot fit without visible damage, use smaller dimensions while respecting the form’s minimum requirements.

A quick workflow

  1. Choose the best available original JPG and keep JPG as the output format.
  2. Review the 100KB limit, image dimensions and maximum quality.
  3. Process and confirm both the JPEG output format and target status before downloading.

When this tool helps

Prepare a JPEG for a form with a strict 100KB limit. The general 100KB compressor also allows WebP when the destination supports it; this page makes the JPEG workflow the starting point.

A FEW GOOD ANSWERS

Before you hit download.

Simple tools. Clear expectations.

Does renaming another file to .jpg work?

No. The file must contain JPEG-encoded data. This tool decodes and re-encodes the pixels into the selected format.

Can the compressed JPG be larger than the source?

Yes, especially when re-encoding a small or efficiently compressed file. Compare actual sizes and keep the source when it already meets the requirement.

What if the result is still above 100KB?

The output is labeled over target. Lower the dimensions or revisit the destination’s rules; the tool does not silently claim success.
