Balance a medium-size upload with readable detail

A 300KB limit often leaves more room for detail than a thumbnail budget while still requiring a large camera image to be reduced. This page uses a 300,000-byte maximum. The compressor searches for the highest fitting quality within the tested range and your quality ceiling.

Get a better result

If the image includes a chart, inspect small labels rather than only judging the large preview. JPG can create halos around text; WebP may be worth comparing when accepted. Do not choose a different format if the receiving form specifically requires JPEG.

A quick workflow

  1. Select your image and review its original byte count.
  2. Choose dimensions suitable for viewing and leave the target at 300KB.
  3. Process, check target status and compare small details before saving.

When this tool helps

Make a compact illustration for a report, a modest product picture or an application photo whose documented limit is 300KB. Re-export from the original whenever you try another setting.

A FEW GOOD ANSWERS

Before you hit download.

Simple tools. Clear expectations.

How is a fitting quality selected?

The tool tests a low quality and performs a bounded binary search when a fitting result exists. It keeps a tested blob within the budget.

Does the quality number match every browser?

No. Browser encoders differ. The actual byte count and visible result are more useful than assuming the same percentage always looks identical.

Can I change this to 200KB later?

Yes. Edit the target field or use the dedicated 200KB tool; process again to replace the old result.
