Keep useful detail within half a megabyte
A 500,000-byte allowance can accommodate more image detail than a tiny form thumbnail, but large camera photographs can still exceed it. This tool starts with a 500KB budget and tests lower encoding qualities only when the initial JPG or WebP is too large. Files already within budget are not inflated.
Get a better result
For a report illustration, choose dimensions near its displayed size and check small labels at full scale. Complex foliage and noise need more bytes than a plain background. If the result looks rough, try reducing dimensions moderately instead of retaining a huge canvas at minimum quality.
A quick workflow
- Select a photo and decide how many pixels the destination actually needs.
- Review the 500KB budget and the maximum quality setting.
- Process and compare details and byte counts before downloading.
When this tool helps
Prepare report photos, content-management uploads and product photographs for a moderate per-image limit. A byte budget does not replace an application’s separate width, height or accepted-format rules.
